Course Overview
This qualification is typically delivered as a one day programme and aimed at learners already working or preparing to work in an industry that is identified within the company’s risk assessment of First Aid. This qualification has been developed in line with the HSE requirements for Emergency First aid at work. Additional content has been added inline with recommendations made from the Manchester inquiry to the Security Industry Authority (SIA). All successful students will be issued with an Emergency First Aid at Work (Security) Certificate, which is valid for a period of 3 years. 7 hours of classroom based learning (practical session and assessment) Course Content The course consist of ONE unit. The contents are outlined below: • Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider • Be able to assess an incident safely • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally • Know how to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking • Provide first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding • Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock • How to provide first aid to a casualty who has been burnt or scalded • Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who has been affected by drugs • Be able to manage a casualty with a minor injury Assessment This qualification is assessed by practical assessments and multiple-choice examinations. Entry Requirements • learners must be aged 18 and over. • learners must have sufficient reading, writing, speaking and listening language skills before being put forward for training and assessment. • learners must demonstrate first aid procedures as part of their assessment, including providing CPR to a casualty on the floor. Therefore, learners must be physically capable of performing CPR on the floor. • correct personal identification documentation – learners are required to provide at least 1 form of photo I.D. If photo I.D is not available, 2 forms of nonphotographic I.D can be produced – this will be outline to you prior to the course commencing
