Course Overview

It is designed for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a Door Supervisor and need to be brought up to date with the new licence linked qualification requirements. Course Content The course consist of TWO units. The contents are outlined below: • know how to conduct effective search procedures terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat • understand how to keep vulnerable people safe • understand terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat • know how to safeguard the public from incidents of spiking • know the implications of physical interventions and their use • know the risks associated with using physical intervention • know how to reduce the risks associated with physical intervention • be able to proficiently and safely use physical skills to protect yourself and others • be able to use non-pain compliant standing, holding and escorting techniques safely Assessment The qualification is assessed via 2 x multiple-choice examinations and a practical assessment. Entry Requirements • learners must be aged 18 and over. • learners must hold a First Aid at Work qualification that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, minimum Emergency First Aid at Work (Security), AND has a least 12 months left until expiry. • learners must have completed the ACT Awareness and ACT Security (https://www.protectuk.police.uk/catalogue) a copy you of your certificate should be brought with you. • Learners will be required to complete a Learner Workbook prior to the course commencing (this will be sent to you in advance of the course). • learners must have sufficient reading, writing, speaking and listening language skills before being put forward for training and assessment. • correct personal identification documentation – this will be outlined to you ahead of the course.
